Careers Education
Many opportunities exist for exploration of, and involvement with, the world at work through curricular and cross-curricular initiatives, problem-solving exercises, projects, work shadowing, observation and work experience for students and teachers. Careers education forms an integral part of all students' experience.
At Ashcroft Technology Academy each student will receive:

A structured programme of careers education, guidance and industrial understanding delivered through Years 7-13

A Year 9-11 curriculum that focuses on option choices; self concepts and the world of work; the application of information search skills; personal action planning; the understanding of patterns of employment; visits to careers events; preparation for work experience; individual Careers interviews; Year 11/Sixth Formtransition planning; job searches and preparation and completion of the students' progress file

A two week work experience placement in Year 11 and 12, augmented by a training programme, a teacher visit during the placement and written feedback from the employer
