Dear Parents

You will be aware that students taking AS/A2 (modular and linear)/IB have very important public exams very soon. The next few weeks are life shaping weeks for all students. For students in year 13 their results will affect university placements and for year 12 the results will affect progression to year 13 and predicted grades for university applications. I would like to remind parents of year 12 that students must achieve minimum DDD in their AS grades in the subjects to be taken to full A level and that their marks must be no more than 50% below grade C; in other words “high” grade D.

 

I firmly believe that the staff and students have worked very hard to aspire to the highest grades possible. However you as parents now have a paramount role to play. Over the Easter holidays, students must do a minimum 6 hours study a day. This is not 6 continuous hours, but 6 hours broken up into bite size chunks. Please ensure that your son/daughter keeps to a rigid study routine over the holidays and that you monitor this. After Easter there are very few teaching weeks left before the start of public exams. To support your son/daughter further we will be holding revision classes over the Easter holidays, and I will be disappointed if any students do not attend. This is a summary programme of Easter revision sessions. To avoid confusion, I have used the term A2 to denote either the second year of a modular or linear subject and will apply to year 13 only.
